Character Analysis

 

David

   ~dumbfounded: David is dumbfounded because he doesnt realize why people do not like the people from the Fringes.  Also, he doesnt understand why he cant be friends with Sophie even though she is much like him  and she only has one extra toe.

   ~aware: David is aware now because he finally realizes what it feels like to  be alienated from society because he is just a little bit different the others.  Also, David knows what the Fringes are like and what the other half of the world lives like.

 

Rosiland

   ~shy: Rosiland is shy because in the book, she is very timid around the spider-man.  Also, in Waknuk, Rosiland does not make herself stand out and she almost goes around unnoticed.

  ~brave: Rosiland is brave because she finally exudes confidence, as it says in the book, in front of spider-man.  Also, in the forest, Rosiland is very brave and protects Petra as if Petra was her own.

 

Petra

   ~immature: Petra is immature because, first of all, she is six years old.Second of all, Petra does not realize the amount of danger that Rosiland, David and Petra are in when they are running from the Waknuk people.

   ~knowledgeable: Petra becomes knowledgeable at the end of the book because she learns how to communicate to with Sealand people and help by telling them where they are and what they are doing.  Also, Petra sees the Fringes and it makes her aware of what else goes on in the world.
